Dr. Steven Collins, an archaeologist from New Mexico, has led excavations in the Jordan Valley in search of the two cities God destroyed for their depravity.

Genesis 19 describes God’s fire-and-brimstone judgment against Sodom and Gomorrah for the people’s sins, including homosexuality, turning them into desolate wastelands. Dr. Collins believes he’s found the site for Sodom. Christian News Network reported:

Collins says the Tall el-Hammam site was mostly untouched by scholars when his team began conducting research there 10 years ago. When they began digging, they found remains of elaborate city infrastructure, including gates, towers, plazas, at least one roadway, and a thick city wall. From all indications, the site was once a thriving, influential city-state with a strategic location and a powerful economy.

But then, disaster struck.
