Will We Honor the Sacrifices of Our Law Enforcement Officers?

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. – Proverbs 28:1

This week is National Police Week. Are our nation’s law enforcement officers getting the support they need?

Star Parker explored this question on a recent segment of Straight Arrow News.

It’s important that we reflect on the state of law enforcement in our country.

“While our police officers work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, far too many progressives work tirelessly to tear down our police officers,” Star said. “And these past few years have no doubt been especially demanding for law enforcement officers.”

As I said in a recent post about the D.C. Council’s soft-on-crime bill, this is not the time to hamstring the police. Being a cop is already one of the most demanding and dangerous roles, Star added. Leftists’ demands to defund the police have contributed to the decline of morale among police officers, and more of them have taken early retirement.

How’s that working out, Chicago?

“According to data from the Police Executive Research Forum, retirements among police officers increased by 45 percent between April 2020 and April 2021,” Star said. Resignations increased by 20 percent. Seattle’s mayor said the police in his city can no longer promptly and effectively provide essential services!

We need our law enforcement officers, Star said. She visited the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in the nation’s capital this week to honor fallen officers.

Do you want safety and justice? Now is the time to show appreciation and renew our support for our law enforcement officers.
