Blue cities and states are resisting federal law by continuing to discriminate against individuals based on race and sex.
And the Trump administration is determined to put a stop to it.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Civil Rights Division has opened an investigation into Minnesota’s Department of Human Services for allegedly hiring based on race and sex — a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
According to the DOJ, the Minnesota agency requires hiring managers to justify themselves when choosing to hire a “non-underrepresented candidate.” From the DOJ:
Hiring supervisors who do not comply with the policy “may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.” The policy seems to be part of a broader effort by the state to engage in race- and sex-based employment practices in its “affirmative action” objectives.
Sounds illegal to me.
“Minnesotans deserve to have their state government employees hired based on merit, not based on illegal DEI,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
Some black Americans will die on the hill of “reverse” racial discrimination. What happens if the government decides to revert to discrimination against black Americans? What logical and legal leg will they have to stand on? Racial discrimination is wrong, no matter who benefits or suffers from it.
Don’t give the government the power to discriminate against individuals based on the color of their skin. Black Americans should be on the frontlines advocating for colorblind law and policies.
