University of Kentucky graduate and swimmer Riley Gaines recently appeared on Fox News to discuss the NCAA nominating a male swimmer who competed on the women’s swim team Ivy League “Woman of the Year.”
Gaines called the whole thing a mockery. Female athletes have dedicated their lives to training and competing and going for the victory. People are now laughing about it. Gaines said it’s “an insult and incredibly disheartening, and quite frankly, it’s wrong.”
Tucker Carlson asked her whether she was bitter about it. Gaines said to think about all the deserving female athletes at the University of Pennsylvania (where Thomas competed) who didn’t get the chance to become Woman of the Year because of a man pretending to be a woman. Insulting and WRONG.
University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines reacts to Lia Thomas being nominated for NCAA woman of the year:
“We have an NCAA woman of the year who spent 95% of their life as a man. It’s incredibly insulting.”
