Just as a handful of men on the U.S. Supreme Court found a previously hidden right of privacy for women to kill their unborn children until viability, courts have found a similar right for two men to call themselves married.
President Barack Obama, a one-time supporter of marriage (I remember this), has publicly stated that the founding document grants two men the right to call themselves married in every state.
It is an astounding idea that transcends the bounds of decency and common sense, but that’s the way the country’s going. Ever leftward, and slouching toward Gomorrah. From Christian News:
“In some ways, the decision that was just handed down to not do anything about what states are doing on same-sex marriage may end up being as consequential—from my perspective, a positive sense—as anything that’s been done,” Obama said. “Because I think it really signals that although the Court was not quite ready—it didn’t have sufficient votes to follow Loving v. Virginia and go ahead and indicate an equal-protection right across the board—it was a consequential and powerful signal of the changes that have taken place in society and that the law is having to catch up.”
Loving v. Virginia (1967) didn’t redefine marriage, as the president well knows. The ruling removed racial restrictions on marriage designed to keep the races separate. Laws barring men and women of different races from marrying were disingenuous and intrusive.
President Obama said he changed his mind after thinking about staff members “in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together,” and service men and women “out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained…because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage…”
He obviously didn’t have a Bible-based belief in what marriage is to begin with, or how God feels about the sin that sent Christ to the cross. Nobody is stopping consenting adults from doing whatever they want to or with each other. But it’s apparent the homosexuality lobby wants publicly expressed disapproval outlawed. That is a behavior we will try to stop.
