To follow up on an earlier post about some Obamacare insurance plans that fund abortion — and the president’s promise that no plan would do so — Life News reports that pro-lifers, including lawmakers, are on the case:
A coalition of pro-life groups and members of Congress gathered today on Capitol Hill to demand a Senate vote on a House bill that would stop the massive taxpayer funding of abortion in Obamaca.
The call for a vote comes on the heels of a new nonpartisan GAO report showing Obamacare is the biggest expansion of abortion funding since Roe v. Wade.
…
“The American people don’t like being lied to!” Congressman Chris Smith told media gathered for the press conference.
Not only is killing unborn children legal in the United States, taxpayers who oppose it, some of whom consider it murder, are expected to pay for it. If women value their “privacy” to the point of choosing to kill their own children, they should also value their my-body-my-choice enough to finance the procedure themselves.
National Right to Life Legislative Director Douglas Johnson mentioned the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal money from funding abortions. During the Obamacare debate, the House of Representatives inserted the language into the bill. The president and his pro-abortion allies blocked it.
