Star Parker: How Governor Matt Bevin Surprised Us at Our Pastor Policy Summit

To our friends across the country, especially in Kentucky, I want to say how much we at CURE appreciate Governor Matt Bevin — a CURE supporter and dear friend of CURE. Please call everyone you know and tell them, “Governor Bevin is a terrific!”

When Governor Matt Bevin attended and spoke to our Pastor Policy Summit last year in Washington, DC, he surprised us.

After his speech, we interviewed Governor Bevin on camera. At the end of the interview he turned to the camera without solicitation and said the following:

“I will say this. CURE is an organization that does more than talk because talk is cheap. And there’s a lot of people who talk, a lot of organizations that have given lip-service to many good things and arguably believe these things, but if you want to be a part of an organization that puts those words into action — you people of faith who happen to be watching this, read the Book of James, you need both sides of this equation, and the bottom line is this: you need to put words into action.

“This is an organization that’s on the ground in communities, on Capitol Hill, in the offices of elected leaders changing policy and changing minds and it is our responsibility to do it. So that’s why I’m here.”

I couldn’t have said it better.
