Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, has signed into law a bill that protects women-only spaces in state-owned buildings.
The legislature has tried several times to protect women’s spaces in the state. This time, the Texas Women’s Privacy Act is now the law. Enforcement begins on December 4, 2025.
Liberty Counsel (LC), which supports barring men from women’s spaces, including sports teams, commends Texas lawmakers.
“Biology is fixed at birth,” said Mat Staver, LC founder and chairman. “People with gender confusion need counseling, not access to the private spaces of the opposite gender. Every state should have similar laws protecting women and girls.”
Women in Texas prisons won’t have to worry about a man pretending to be a woman in their restrooms, showers, or changing areas. From LC:
The bill allows violators to be fined $25,000 for the first violation and $125,000 for each subsequent violation making the law one of the most financially punitive in the nation.
