Governor of Texas Greg Abbott seeks to protect the right of Americans to dissent.
He’s prepared to sign a bill into law to protect Christian-owned businesses like Chick-fil-A from government discrimination and penalties for upholding their religious beliefs in how they run their businesses.
Sources report that the governor recently signed into law a bill that protects the First Amendment free speech rights of students on college campuses. The new law bars schools from denying services to student organizations based on viewpoint. Students who try to stop other students from exercising their right to free expression face disciplinary action.
Outdoor areas on campuses are to be considered public forums. College administrations will still be allowed to impose some restrictions on time, place, and manner of public free speech demonstrations.
