Last Friday in Houston, Texas, a black man named Shannon Miles shot and killed a white police officer, Deputy Darren Goforth. The deputy was filling up at a gas station. According to news reports, Miles shot the officer in the back and shot him again after he was down.
Many believe Miles murdered Officer Goforth because he was a cop. Lots of anti-cop sentiment going around. Was race also a motive?
Sheriff Ron Hickman of Harris County, Texas, warns against the “dangerous national rhetoric” of the so-called Black Lives Matter movement. Good for him. During a press conference after Officer Goforth’s murder, he said the ranting has gotten out of control when it leads to the “calculated, cold-blooded assassination” of law enforcement officers.
“We’ve heard ‘Black Lives Matter.’ ‘All lives matter.’ Well, cops’ lives matter too, so why don’t we drop the qualifier and just say lives matter and take that to the bank?”
“This rhetoric is out of control. I know #BlackLivesMatter, so do our lives. Let’s drop this and say ‘#AllLivesMatter‘” @SheriffHickman

We need more Americans, especially those in authority, to stand up to the “Black Lives Matter” crowd. One thing liberals have managed to do, sadly, is to convince too many whites that they have no moral authority to complain. “That’s racist!” We all should speak out against calls to harm or kill the police (and anyone else), regardless of perceptions of “racism,” and vow to prevent it.
All lives do matter and I will say again that we do not have a skin problem as much as we have a sin problem. Pray for our country.
