Will People Heed Dr. Ben Carson's Warning About Trump Protesters?

Dr. Ben Carson made big news last week when he dropped out of the GOP presidential race and endorsed opponent Donald Trump. Now Dr. Carson is warning people about violence that could escalate at Trump rallies and what’s at stake. An excerpt from USA Today:

“If the protestors continue with their Alinsky-ite tactics, there is a real possibility of escalation because those who are the victims of them have two choices: they can submit to them and meekly just do whatever those protesters want them to do, or they can fight back,” Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, said on NBC’s Today Monday. “And if they decide to fight back, there could be an escalation.”

Trump, who canceled a rally in Chicago Friday because of violence between supporters and critics, has said he bears no responsibility. He blamed supporters of Bernie Sanders. Trump’s rivals, however, say the violence is a product of his angry rhetoric, such as statements that he would like to punch a protester in the face and that he would pay the legal fees of supporters who strike back.

Dr. Carson said the other candidates should stand up for the First Amendment. Disruptive protesting interferes with this right.

“The problem is that there are those who are being taught that if someone disagrees with you, you have the right to interfere with their First Amendment rights, their ability to express themselves, their freedom of speech,” he said. “Now when people do things wrong such as that, it causes other people to react in a way that is negative, and therefore you see that reaction.”

Protesters will continue to try to shut down Trump rallies. Dr. Carson said the left is just angry because Trump is standing up to them.

  1. I think since Dr Carson has come out in support of Trump I no longer consider his opinion about anything. I support the First Amendment and he has the right to support the person he chooses but I do not support Trump for the fact that I think he is playing America for dupes. Sorry Dr. Carson I no longer consider your opinion of value.

  2. The deep divide has been growing wider and deeper for a quarter century. The electoral maps of the ’80s were one color. The left had to fight back. The elder Bush gave them an opening with “read my lips”. They got him to compromise on taxes. Bush-hater Ross Perot gave the (children of the sixties) Clinton’s two election victories. Then came the dimpled chads… 9/11… war in Iraq +… and overseeing it all has been the money class looting our great-grandchildren’s piggy banks.

What do I think? I think we are just seeing the pre-season. The two wings are crossing from tolerance through dislike and over into hate. The most likely outcome, war is coming. The wheels are going to come off of this runaway vehicle on which we ride.
