2015 March for Life, Abortion-Pain Bill

Pro-lifers will rally at the 2015 March for Life tomorrow (Star Parker will be there!) in Washington, D.C., which is also the 42nd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized on-demand dismemberment of unborn babies before the age of viability.

Lawmakers will debate and hopefully pass H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, tomorrow as well. The measure would ban abortions 20 weeks after fertilization, because these babies might be capable of feeling the pain of their deaths.

As a state senator, President Barack Obama voted against a bill that banned partial-birth abortion, a heinous procedure that involves delivering the unwanted child halfway out of the birth canal and sticking some kind of probe into his brain to kill him. He’s threatened to veto H.R. 36 should it end up on his desk.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, who we quoted earlier today, spoke with Life News about the State of the Union speech.

“The President hailed the freedoms we hold as Americans, even as the religious liberty that we have long enjoyed is being chipped away with each rap of the gavel of an activist judge. A government able to bankrupt people for standing by their beliefs, on marriage, life, or any other matter of conscience, is a government of unbridled power and a threat to everyone’s freedom.”
