Why Is Sen. Cory Booker Testifying Against a Senator He Felt ‘Blessed and Honored’ to Work With Last Year?

Liberal Senator Cory Booker is scheduled to testify against Senator Jeff Sessions at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee for the position of U.S. Attorney General.

“We’ve seen Jeff Sessions — that’s Senator Jeff Sessions — consistently voting against or speaking out against key ideals of the Voting Rights Act, taking measures to try to block criminal justice reform,” Sen. Booker said on NBC. “He has a posture and a positioning that I think represent a real danger to our country.”

But Sen. Booker had some nice things to say about the Alabama lawmaker at the Congressional Gold Metal awards ceremony only last year. From the Washington Examiner (emphasis added):

But less than a year ago, Booker was sharing “one of my life’s greatest moments” with Sessions, speaking at a ceremony awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the “foot soldiers” who had participated in the 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala.

Booker coauthored the legislation granting the award with Sessions.

“This is truly one of my life’s greatest moments,” Booker said at the February 2016 ceremony. “I am humbled to be able to participate here and pay tribute to some of the extraordinary Americans whose footsteps paved the way for me and my generation. I feel blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions in being the Senate sponsors of this important award. This award is one of the highest civilian honors our nation can bestow, and it is clearly fitting to give this tribute to the courageous foot soldiers.”

Was Sen. Sessions a “danger” last year, and if so, why would Sen. Booker feel blessed and honored working with him?

  1. How about he’s a two-faced, lying progressive who thinks he’s taking the next big step toward a presidential run in 2020. He may wind up getting the nomination, but he’ll still be a two-faced, lying progressive skunk.

  2. To me this is like getting stabbed in the back by someone you trusted. He thinks he is going to run for President but after this I would think twice about having him run. Democrats and liberals still do not get it. So sad.
