Female employees have alleged that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of the Navy are allowing men to use women’s restrooms.
Why is this happening in the Trump administration? Are those who should be overseeing these matters holdovers from the Biden administration?
Liberty Counsel (LC) wrote a letter to these departments alerting them that men have been using restrooms designated for women and creating a hostile work environment, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and executive orders that eradicate anti-Christian bias in the federal government, prioritize military readiness and excellence, and defend women from gender ideology extremism and restore biological truth to the federal government.
According to the letter (PDF), a female employee of Veterans Affairs contractor Exela Technologies complained on behalf of herself and a group of women that a male Exela employee posts “violent transgender imagery on his open social media profile, after years of access to the women’s restrooms.”
For example, the man wrote on social media: “NOBODY IS COMING TO SAVE US” “SIBLINGS, PICK UP YOUR WEAPONS.” Included in the post is an image of a person “in battle dress carrying an AR-15, all of which is superimposed upon a ‘transgender flag’ pink-and-blue background.”
Other captions include “TERFS AIN’T WELCOME.” TERFS is an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist — women who call themselves feminists and oppose men taking over women’s spaces. See the letter for more examples.
A woman who works for the Department of the Navy also complained about two men who use women’s restrooms.
“She desires for the male employees who do not wish to use the men’s restroom to be either accommodated with a single user restroom option or to be required to use the men’s restroom itself; or for the male employees to be transferred to a facility which has such single user restrooms,” according to the letter.
LC asks for oversight and enforcement of existing laws and executive orders to protect women’s privacy and safety.
“There is also no place in the workplace for employees who express violent ideology on personal social media,” said Mat Staver, LC founder and chairman. “Biology is fixed at birth and giving legal credence to fiction undermines the law and causes chaos and significant harm.”
