America First Legal (AFL) is a firm that roots out discrimination and fights for constitutional protections.
In 2022, AFL asked Congress to investigate the U.S. Department of Transportation over race-based hiring, filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Kontoor Brands, Inc., parent company for denim brands Wrangler and Lee, for using racial quotas when hiring and promoting employees, filed a lawsuit against Texas A&M University for hiring faculty based on race, and more.
Racial preferences are entrenched in government agencies and academic institutions. The U.S. Supreme Court in November heard arguments in a case that involved Harvard University and the University of North Carolina. These schools use race when making admissions decisions. For every student admitted under lowered standards based on race, a student with higher grades and scores is denied admission.
AFL just filed what it calls a landmark class-action lawsuit against six medical schools in Texas for “illegally using race and sex preferences in their admissions – a practice that violates Title VI, Title IX, and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.”
Whites, Asians, and men “bear the brunt of this egregious policy granting applicants with lesser academic credentials medical school admission over academically more qualified candidates on the basis of race and sex,” AFL wrote.
Numbers don’t lie. AFL’s client, a white man, obtained data from six medical schools where he was denied admission. An excerpt (emphasis added):
– The median and mean grade-point averages and MCAT scores of admitted black and Hispanic students are significantly lower than the grade-point averages and MCAT scores of admitted white and Asian students;
– Admitted female students have lower MCAT scores than admitted male students
Call it “affirmative action” or “equity” or a remedy for past discrimination. Whatever euphemism people use to describe the practice, it is blatant discrimination based on race and sex. Let’s hope the Supreme Court puts a stop to it.
