Parents want educational choices for their children. Democrats and Republicans understand this. But Democrats don’t want families to have this kind of freedom.
We have a president who does want freedom for parents. President Donald Trump is helping parents who want to remove their children from low-performing government schools and/or schools that insist teachers should be allowed to talk to five-year-olds about the adults’ sex lives. President Trump issued an executive order titled “Expanding Educational Freedom And Opportunity For Families.”
“It is the policy of my Administration to support parents in choosing and directing the upbringing and education of their children,” the order reads. “Within 60 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Education shall issue guidance regarding how States can use Federal formula funds to support K-12 educational choice initiatives.”
What a nice change from “guidance” to government schools to allow boys into girls’ restrooms to guidance on how state governments can help parents, especially those in distressed zip codes, obtain the best education for their children.
This week is National School Choice Week. From the U.S. Department of Education:
The department will celebrate education freedom by highlighting K-12 education options available to students and families, including traditional public schools, public charters, public magnet schools, online options, private schools, and a wealth of homeschool options.
Trump’s Education Department has a school choice page, making it clear that educational choice, rather than the choice to kill unborn babies, is a priority for this administration.
