The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) stands in solidarity with the people of Israel and the countless innocent citizens who have been tragically impacted by the recent surprise attacks launched by Hamas militants in Gaza. The toll on the Israeli population has been immense, with more than 1,200 lives tragically lost, including 22 Americans, and countless others left injured and traumatized.
CURE President Star Parker issued a statement on the situation, stating:
“Children’s rooms with splattered blood stains. Streets and festivals filled with the bodies of the dead. The evils we are witnessing against Israel are sobering to man’s soul. And if you have a biblical worldview, if you are rooted in the faith of Christ, then you certainly cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening.”
President Parker continued, “It is unfathomable that we have fellow Americans stating that they stand with Palestine and Hamas. It’s even more shocking that some of the folks are elected officials.”
Two Democrats, U.S. House Representative Rashida Tlaib from Michigan and Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, released a statement criticizing Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.
“In the waking hours of the brutal terrors being inflicted upon innocent Israeli citizens, the first instinct of two Members of Congress was to immediately criticize Israel?” asked President Parker.
In her nationally syndicated column, President Parker raised critical concerns about the choices of Palestinian leadership, concerns that have been evident since day one.
“When will fellow Americans speak out that Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, leaving the Palestinians to self-govern, and they elected Hamas? Their only accomplishments have been the destruction of life and property. They have wasted their sovereignty growing hate rather than a state and an economy.”
In a soon to be published video on Straight Arrow News, an online news publication, President Parker closes her statement with an appeal for unity and a focus on Christian values in the face of adversity:
“I pray that while this could be a long and bloody war, we will remind ourselves that these are the times that try men’s souls: when mere Christianity matters most. And if the Palestinians are serious about self-government and want to be trusted with their own independent state, the next time they have elections they should not elect terrorists.”
CURE calls upon all concerned citizens to stand together in condemning the attacks on Israel and supporting the values of peace, freedom, and security for all.
