Hillary Clinton recently answered audience members’ questions in Virginia about the issues. A woman explained to Clinton how her family’s health insurance premiums have gone up. She signed up for a plan on the Obamacare exchange.
“We went from $400-something to $900-something,” she said. “So we’re just fighting to keep benefits for ourselves. The thought of being able to provide benefits to your employees is almost secondary. Yet to keep your employees happy, that’s a question that comes across my desk all the time. I have to keep my employees as independent contractors…to avoid that situation.”
Do rising health care costs have anything to do with Obamacare? She restates what the woman said and acknowledges that costs are rising. Clinton speculates why her premium rose by $500 and what should be done to improve the program.
Rising health care costs are a “real challenge,” but Obamacare is a “big step forward for the vast majority of Americans.”
Clinton blamed the insurance companies and thinks the government should make them justify what they charge. She admitted she doesn’t understand why the business owner’s premiums have gone up.
