WATCH: Sheriff David Clarke Defends Liberal Over 'Hands Up' Debunking Column

Liberal Washington Post columist Jonathan Capehart admitted to something most of us suspected even before the Department of Justice released its findings. Michael Brown didn’t have his hands up in surrender when Officer Darren Wilson shot him. (Brown wasn’t shot in the back running, either.)

Politicians, mainstream media, and other liberals seized the cop-shoots-surrendering-black-teen narrative and ran with it.

“In those early hours and early days, there was more unknown than known,” Capehart wrote. “But this month, the Justice Department released two must-read investigations connected to the killing of Brown that filled in blanks, corrected the record and brought sunlight to dark places by revealing ugly practices that institutionalized racism and hardship. They have also forced me to deal with two uncomfortable truths: Brown never surrendered with his hands up, and Wilson was justified in shooting Brown.”

Naturally, the liberals didn’t like one of their own broadcasting inconvenient truths. Capehart said he was called a house negro and a sell out for debunking the narrative. Typical.

Sheriff David Clarke called what Capehart did courageous and hopes the Washington Post backs him but probably won’t.

“I think it restores some of the character and integrity so lacking in the liberal news media today.”

Sheriff Clarke added that we’ve come a long way in the right direction in terms of civil rights that now the civil rights industry has to hold up people involved in criminal behavior as icons of the movement.

“In other words, we’ve gone from people like Frederick Douglass, we’ve gone from Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to Mike Brown, who had just strong-armed a convenience store clerk before he met his fate at the hands of Officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson Police Department — lawfully, reasonably, and justifiably, by the way.”
